untitled

harmony with Mother Earth
but sinkholes appear
growing in number
nothing but old news
     it is said
for the People
at Black Mesa

concerns
about the N-Aquifer
     collapsing
          collapsing
               collapsing

these holes
swallow up
what was once there
Mother Earth cracks
     in thundering silence
the land turns brown
balance is challenged

concerns
about the N-Aquifer
     collapsing
          collapsing
               collapsing

springs go dry
no longer providing
the much needed water
the giver of life
     vegetation dries
no water for the animals
and the ground cracks more

concerns
about the N-Aquifer
     collapsing
          collapsing
               collapsing

transmission lines
470 miles of them
wires stretching
across the land
     agreements made
but not with the People
those most affected

concerns
about the N-Aquifer
     collapsing
          collapsing
               collapsing

with new life
given to peabody
while deep sinkholes
continue to appear
     on this sacred land
called Black Mesa -- the Altar
where life continues

yet concerns
about the N-Aquifer
     collapsing
          collapsing
               collapsing

the land is sinking
the water
the vegetation
     vanish
because they do not think
because they never listen
the harmony disappears
